Qatar Airways is introducing a new range of premium onboard experiences for passengers departing Australia, combining refreshed menus by Australian chef Ross Lusted, signature cocktails created by acclaimed mixologist Lorenzo Antinori, luxury Diptyque amenity kits and high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi.

Announced on October 9, the enhancements will be available across the airline’s premium cabins, with the new dining menu scheduled to run from February to July 2027.

The latest additions form part of Qatar Airways’ broader investment in premium travel, bringing together Australian culinary talent, international beverage expertise and onboard technology.

Australian chef Ross Lusted leads refreshed premium menus

The new menus have been developed by Ross Lusted, the Australian chef known for his contemporary approach to cuisine and use of carefully selected ingredients.

The dishes have been created exclusively for Qatar Airways’ premium passengers, with an emphasis on fresh produce, balanced flavours and refined presentation.

Business Class passengers can expect dishes including slow-cooked lamb shoulder served with softened lentils, young spinach and puffed quinoa. The menu also features white-cut chicken with macadamia nut dressing, corn and shiitake mushrooms.

For dessert, passengers will be offered caramel-roasted apple with pastry crust, vanilla cream and verbena.

First Class diners will have access to a separate selection, including tiger prawns with harissa oil, pickled carrot, spice crunch and mint leaves. Other options include roasted fish fillet with seafood orzo broth, young fennel, green olive and saffron oil.

The First Class dessert selection features set milk with stone fruit, elderflower and almond milk clouds.

Signature cocktails created by Lorenzo Antinori

Qatar Airways is also introducing a new cocktail and mocktail collection developed by Italian mixologist Lorenzo Antinori, whose Bar Leone in Hong Kong was named the world’s best bar in 2025.

The collection is available on flights departing Australia and New Zealand to Doha and beyond, with dedicated selections for First Class, Business Class and the airline’s Airbus A380 inflight lounge.

First Class passengers can choose from creations including Rising to the Sky, combining gin, Champagne and apple juice, and Tokyo 75, which pairs Japanese craft gin with Champagne and lemon juice.

Other options include the Japanese Old Fashioned, Havana Punch, Golden Delilah, G&Tea and The Aviator.

The Business Class menu features its own selection, including the Italian Highball, Old Smoke and The Carousel, alongside several cocktails shared with the First Class offering.

The A380 inflight lounge will also feature a dedicated cocktail selection, giving eligible passengers another opportunity to experience the collection during their journey.

For passengers seeking alcohol-free alternatives, the new mocktail menu includes Sunrise Punch, Virgin Bloody Mary, Oriental Fizz, White Blossom and Pineapple Margarita.

Connectivity is another major part of the airline’s latest onboard enhancements.

Qatar Airways says more than 150 of its widebody aircraft are now equipped with Starlink satellite internet, providing passengers with high-speed Wi-Fi while travelling.

The airline has progressively introduced the technology across its Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 fleets, and says it was the first airline to operate Starlink-equipped Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Since launching Starlink onboard in October 2024, the carrier has recorded more than 23 million passenger connections across over 86,000 flights, according to figures provided in the announcement.

The rollout is intended to allow passengers to stay connected throughout their journeys, whether working, streaming content or communicating with family and friends.

Diptyque amenity kits add a luxury touch

The airline is also updating its premium onboard amenities with exclusive kits featuring products from French fragrance house Diptyque.

The kits include body lotion, nourishing lip balm, face mist and a 10ml fragrance spray.

They are being introduced for First and Business Class passengers as part of Qatar Airways’ broader effort to enhance comfort and personal care throughout the flight.

Qatar Airways adds to its award-winning reputation

The new onboard offerings follow another successful year at the Skytrax World Airline Awards in 2026.

According to the airline, Qatar Airways retained its five-star rating and received four additional distinctions, including World’s Best Business Class for the 13th time, Best Airline in the Middle East for the 14th time, Best Business Class Airline Lounge for the eighth time and the inaugural World’s Best Onboard Wi-Fi award.

The carrier also says it has received Skytrax’s World’s Best Airline title nine times.

Qatar Airways plans to serve more than 170 destinations worldwide during the northern winter season, connecting passengers through Hamad International Airport in Doha.

The latest enhancements reinforce the airline’s focus on combining dining, hospitality, technology and onboard comfort as it competes for premium travellers from Australia and other international markets.
