MELBOURNE, October 2026 — Ticket sales for the Australian Open 2027 are running at a record early pace, up more than 20 per cent on last year, Tennis Australia said on Sunday.

Even allowing for an earlier on-sale date in August, sales for Australian Open 2027 are surging, the organisation said. Three-quarters of the AO Reserve premium packages have already gone, up 15 per cent on last year.

Overseas buyers account for more than 17 per cent of tickets sold so far, up 37 per cent year-on-year. Fans from the USA top the list of international buyers.

Interstate buyers make up a further 38 per cent of sales, up 45 per cent year-on-year.

“The response has been phenomenal and is another reminder of the incredible passion for the Australian Open that just keeps building,” Tennis Australia chief executive Andrew Abdo said.

He said the response went beyond ticket sales to the overall interest and feedback from partners and stakeholders.

Tennis Australia also reported record early demand for Rod Laver Arena tickets and the AO Ground Pass.

Australian Open 2027 global campaign

The Australian Open 2027 global campaign began in late August. It took in Hong Kong, Singapore, the US, India, Japan, Korea and China.

Later, a Melbourne double-header featured a presentation for media, stakeholders and staff. It also included the AO Long Lunch, the first AO content creator launch in Melbourne.

Guests at the lunch generated more than 200 million social media impressions in the first 24 hours.

China’s AO 1 Point Slam and tournament launch drew more than 50 million impressions. That figure doubled last year’s China launch, and the event produced more than 5300 media clippings.

“The AO has become a truly global sporting and entertainment event, connecting with fans well beyond the three weeks of the tournament,” Abdo said.

Brazil hosts the campaign’s next events in October. After that, Tennis Australia has further events lined up across China, India, Malaysia and Japan until January.

The global events lineup for Australian Open 2027 includes AO Reserve launches in Hong Kong and Singapore with Mark Philippoussis. He is the Greek Australian former player who coached Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2023.

A six-city AO 1 Point Slam takes in Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chengdu. Chengdu will also host the AO Asia Pacific Wildcard Playoff.

Tennis Australia has also scheduled ballkid trials in Korea and India and junior events in Japan and Brazil. Brazil’s event is the AO Junior Series South America in Sao Paulo.

Clarke Quay in Singapore will host “AO by the Quay” during the last four days of Australian Open 2027. Tennis Australia is staging the live site with broadcast partner beIN Sports.

What’s new at Melbourne Park

At Melbourne Park, a reimagined, multi-storey Grand Slam Oval will offer 45 per cent more space and triple the shade. The western courts will also have 17 per cent more seats for Australian Open 2027.

The biggest grandstand ever constructed at Melbourne Park accounts for that increase, Tennis Australia said. Abdo said fans would get more space, more seats and more ways to be part of the action.

“There’s still three months to go, but the early response tells us fans can’t wait for January, and neither can we,” Abdo said.

Australian Open 2027 runs at Melbourne Park from 11 to 31 January 2027. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster, while the official tournament website carries further details.
